Our Story

Our Story

180 Teen Center is a faith based 501 (c)3 non-profit which exists to minister to teens from 6th through 12th grade. 180 formally Hamakua Place was founded in 2007 by Jim and Deb Bodensteiner. The original vision was to create a safe, positive, and healthy environment where teens from the surrounding area could come and foster lasting friendships as well as be influenced and mentored by caring adults and volunteers. We are dedicated to providing a wholesome alternative to existing recreation and entertainment as well as be encouraging, uplifting, and committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with our teens and their families.

The Early Years

In the early years our name was Hamakua Place. Hamakua is a Hawaiian word that means "Breath of God". This name was given in honor of Pastor Fred Bickhart, who graciously leased us their former church building. In September of 2014, we changed our name to 180 Teen Center. The name change reflects our vision and mission. 180 Teen Center "change your life by changing your direction 180 degrees with Jesus Christ."

New Leaders

In 2016 founders Jim and Deb Bodensteiner retired. The excitedly passed to Heather and Jarek Pozarycki. Heather and Jarek has a passion for the teens and families of Washington and surrounding areas to come to know the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

180 Teen Center is funded by many different businesses and individuals We would like to thank each of them for their continued support. We would also love to make you part of our story.
